Why we built this
Most people start a home project without knowing what it should cost. HouseMathPro gives you a fast, transparent estimate so you can plan a budget, order the right amount of material and compare contractor quotes with confidence.
Who runs HouseMathPro
How our calculators work
- Every calculator shows its formula and a worked example, so you can check the math.
- Calculation logic is tested against known values before a page is published.
- Prices come from cited sources listed at the bottom of each page, with the date they were last updated.
- We never invent prices or statistics. If we cannot source a figure, we do not publish it.
How we research prices
- Start from published sources. Prices come from national US cost guides (HomeGuide, Angi, Fixr, Inch Calculator) and manufacturer data (Quikrete, GAF). Each page lists its sources with links and dates.
- Keep ranges as published. When a calculator needs one default price, it uses the midpoint of a sourced range, and the page says which source and range it came from.
- Mark anything we calculate. Figures we work out from a sourced rate, such as a whole-house total from a per-window price, are labeled as calculated and checked by automated tests before publishing.
- Date every page. Each calculator and guide shows when its numbers were last reviewed. When a price changes, we update the page and its “Updated” date together.
What our estimates are not
Our numbers are planning estimates, not contractor quotes. Local prices, site conditions and building codes vary. Read our disclaimer for details.
